The Battle Isn't Just Political ... It's Spiritual Too

The Battle Is Not Political… It’s A Spiritual Battle

The other day, I was listening to a podcast early in the morning at work.  I usually start my days with an somewhat mindless task at the office so I can listen to my favorite political commentators (usually The Charlie Kirk Show).  That particular morning, the show host I was listening bemoaned all the problems in American culture, and the show hit the nail on the head when it said there is a serious spiritual battle raging in America.  The forces of darkness are waging war against light, and we are part of that battle.

The only question is: which side are you on?

THE SIDE OF LIGHT

If you’re on the side of light, things are not going to be easy.  This is true especially for Christians, though not always the case.  Atheists and classical liberals who oppose Leftism and progressivism have come under heavy fire from the other side as well.

As Christians, we can have peace knowing that hard times are *gasp* actually guaranteed.

Matthew 10:34-36 records Jesus saying,

“‘Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.  For I have come toset a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law”; anda man’s enemies will be those of his own household”‘” (New King James Version).

It’s not a matter of “if” it happens; it’s a matter of “when”, and we are commanded to be ready with answers for anyone who asks us what our faith is all about.

1 Peter 3:14-16 says,

“But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. ‘And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.’  But sanctify [the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed” (New King James Version).

We have to take courage, and guess what… courage is contagious!

Courage in today's culture

Taking Courage In Today’s Culture

When one person stands up, others who would have been silent otherwise, begin to stand up with that one person.

TIME TO EAT!

It’s just like the all-too-familiar situation when you’re hanging out with friends and someone shouts, “Time to eat!”

The food is sitting on the counter literally calling your name and getting cold while you wait, but nobody wants to be the first to get in line.

My pastor solved this problem at church gatherings by saying, “Well, since nobody wants to be first, who wants to be second?”

Everyone laughs, and some brave soul grabs a plate and leads the charge as others join.

COURAGE AND THE FIGHT AGAINST CRITICAL RACE THEORY

We see this same situation happening politically in the fight against critical race theory.  When people first started standing up and speaking out against this racist philosophy in schools, it was only a few fighters like James Lindsay, Christopher Rufo, Tim Rubin, and a few other brave people.  They were the select figures speaking out, barely audible as they tried to squeak above the masses and propaganda in schools.  They had a message that was disturbing to parents, children, and schools alike: American schools were teaching children to be racist and hate their country.

But then what happened?  The few became many.

Little by little, other radio show hosts and TV hosts took notice.  Conservative organizations spoke out.  The message started growing that our kids are being taught a racist philosophy.  Parents started to speak out.  At first they were cautious and quiet.  Today, parents and students are roasting woke school boards, showing up at local elections, and making waves of positive change to boot out anti-American teaching in schools.

All right.  Enough about courage culture.

SET YOUR FOUNDATION IN TRUTH

We are talking about a spiritual battle being waged in America.  No matter how hard we fight politically.  No matter how many blogs we write and speeches we do.  No matter replacing every Congressman and senator with a conservative in their place.  It won’t matter if we don’t turn back to God and win the spiritual battle – the root of all of this.

John 8:31-32 says, “So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free'” (New King James Version).

Jesus is the truth.  The Bible is His Word.  We have to set our roots in that and grow there.

Should we still fight on the political side?  Absolutely.  As Christians, we HAVE to keep voting, keep running for public and government offices, and start speaking out.  That’s a huge part of the fight, and if we don’t engage politically and publicly, we’ll lose the war for America’s Christian legacy.  But when it comes right down to it, if we don’t rebuild the family and rebuild America’s Christian faith, the change won’t last, and we’ll be taking one step forward and sliding ten feet back.  It’s like making progress in sand.  It disappears, sifting away into nothing.

The truth is the only thing that will set us free.

If we return to God and our Christian roots, we can take back morals, the nuclear family, pure education, and America’s greatness of shining hope to the hopeless all over the world.

If we don’t turn back to God, our family will continue to crumble, children won’t know true history or the value of the family, and freedom will disappear.

2 Corinthians 3:17 says, “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (New King James Version).

CONCLUSION

We have to realize that it’s not all about politics.  Politics, legislation, boards, and elections are a massive part of the battle, but they need to be based on Christianity.  Once we start living with that in mind, the game changes in our favor.

If you’re married and able, have lots of kids!

Don’t let the government raise your kids.  Be active in their education or homeschool.

Stay married – don’t divorce.

Read your Bible.

Pray all the time!

Witness to others.  Know the Gospel, and spread the light!

Always have an answer, and when you don’t have an answer, be honest and go find it.
